I recently got this big old jar of local honey that I picked up at the local Asian market. Not so Asian, but locals folks are supporting local folks by selling their goods, which is awesome. I'm all about that. When I saw the jars lined up on the shelf in their various golden hues, I knew I had to have one. I had to talk myself out of buying two, but the price was a bit high for my budget, so I stuck with one.
I love to use honey as a sweetener in my cooking. I add it to smoothies, drizzle it on my daughters favorite peanut butter and banana sandwiches, and use it to balance spicy savory dishes.
I love to cut super sweet flavors with a little bit of spice. I was brainstorming recipe ideas that would use my new honey combined with a bit of heat when I remembered that I picked up a bottle of sriracha chili sauce, too. Honey sriracha! Just sounds yummy, right? Did to me!
But honey sriracha what? I have been loving football food lately (actually, when am I not loving game day grub?), so I wanted to incorporate the honey sriracha flavor into a great finger food app that would be good to serve to a crowd.
Then it hit me...kielbasa!
We eat lots of kielbasa in our house, specifically turkey kielbasa. I knew that a sweet and spicy sauce would go great with it!
And you know what? I was right.
These little babies were niiiiice and sweet with just a little bit of sriracha kick. I loved them! I like spicy, so next time I might even go with a little extra hot sauce.
These are really the best manly munchy food for football games, amiright? I mean, little hunks of kielbasa? Totally manly. Haha. Manly or not, they are totally good, simple to prepare, and a great little nibble to serve to guests if you're having a party!
