Lately, I have really embraced the idea of "a homemade pantry". The idea basically involves replacing all of my usual store-bought items that are stored in the pantry with homemade versions. One, because homemade usually will mean less chemicals. Sure, I indulge in processed food. I'm not a 100% clean eater by any means. But if I can eliminate some of those chemicals with homemade recipes that, more often than not, taste better than their pre-packaged counterparts, well then why not?
So, the second reason I like the idea of a homemade pantry is that it helps me save money! I can make a homemade sauce, pesto, or baked good, and it is almost guaranteed that I can do it for less money than buying it from the store. Again, why not?
I have just started making homemade salad dressings in the past year or so. My Mom makes the best italian dressing, which for the life of me I can't duplicate. She never measures anything, so no luck with following a recipe, unfortunately. So, until I figure out how she makes it, I decided to try a creamy italian and it came out super yum!
This dressing can be used as a salad dressing or dip for fresh veggies, and is flavored just perfectly with the oil, vinegar, creamy base, and fresh herbs. I think you're going to love it!

Hello Becky. I needed a creamy Italian dressing to use in a salad I was making and super glad this one came up in my Pinterest search. I made it with greek yogurt instead of the mayo and sour cream and it was amazing. I also shared it on my blog today. Thanks for a great recipe.
ReplyDeleteHi Kati! I'm thrilled you tried it and liked it. I love the greek yogurt substitution. I am a huge greek yogurt fan! I'll have to try it! Thanks for the share!
DeleteI was surprised how much I liked the mayo & sour cream combo, left out the vinegar and kept it thick for a dip.
ReplyDeleteI know this a really long time ago but no one states how long it will last. Use within what time period??
ReplyDeleteI think a good bet would be right around a week. I hope you like it!
